More on Germany and its role in this crisis.

E-mail
A few more thoughts on Germany and its role in this crisis, because it is well known that back when the Berlin Wall fell, British prime minister Mrs Thatcher was reluctant to allow capitalist West Germany to reunify with communist East Germany.

According to documents that were released in 2009, Mrs T was concerned about the strength of a unified Germany, and the effect it would have on Britain.

It was French demands that in return for allowing the two countries to unite, Germany would give up the mighty Deutchse mark and put is economic might behind a single currency.

Reunification went ahead, and the rest they say is history.

However, here we are twenty odd years later and the entire euro project is on the brink of collapse. If it does, Germany will remain unified, the D-mark will return and Germany will head back to its historic allegiances with Eastern Europe.

Just saying is all.
