Something very strange has occurred over the past few weeks. I have become vehemently anti European Union.
Having lived on the continent in several different countries, and having a pattering of languages and many friends all across, I have always been mostly pro EU.
However, some time in the last two weeks I have crossed over and vehemently oppose the EU. Two years ago, had we had a referendum as promised by both political parties, I would have voted to remain within.
Today, I will do anything I can to get the UK out. I wonder how many others feel the same?
I am not sure what my tipping point was, but as I wrote below, the EU is clearly anti democratic, having no concern for voter demands.
In addition, this post about how the European banks are "cooking the books", probably has something to do with it:
Hans Hoogervorst, Chair of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) said: European banks carried out "blatant breaches" of IFRS in valuing their holdings of Greek debt.
As noted on the post, this is not some Mad Blogger, this is the head of the International Accounting Standards Board alleging blatant fraud at European banks.
It could also have to do with the economic warfare being targeted at the UK; on one front, the EU want to tax financial transactions; namely the City of London, in order to bail out a currency we are not a member of.
This is not just a rant; love it or hate it; The City is the main pillar of the UK economy.
How would the Germans react if other member nations pushed for a tax on engineering?
Or it could have been the other front of the economic warfare in which the founding principles of the EU, that of free movement of goods and services anywhere with the European Union has been cast aside in order to attack the City.
Manoeuvres are afoot to force all euro denominated trades to be cleared with the eurozone.
It could have to do with the new Agency Worker Directives, that come into UK law today. It basically means that should I be in need of a temporary employee, to say cover an employee on maternity leave for one year, I will need to pay the temporary worker maternity leave after three months, and her temp cover after three months.
Maybe, it has something to do with EU demands that the UK pay migrant workers all the benefits available to permanent residents, regardless of time spent in the UK, or taxes paid.
This is not just politicking, these are coordinated attacks, and here and now I demand a referendum on whether we should remain a member.
This is very sad, and I really feel for our friends on the continent. The European Parliament is a rubber stamp forum that is having a disastrous impact on people’s lives and i want no more to do wth it.
